Healdsburg is one of the most “happening” places in Sonoma County and deserves it’s own Guide post.
Healdsburg, just like other Sonoma Wine County cities, consists mostly of wineries, restaurants and unique local shops. Even on an off day, the downtown is full of people. In Healdsburg, you will find over 30 tasting rooms, an amazing food scene for both casual and fine dining, and artisan bakeries.
Where to Eat:
Bravas (named one of the top 20 tapas restaurants in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure) offer’s a modern take on Spanish tapas with traditional flavors. Book a table in advance for a spot on their outdoor patio. Serving lunch and dinner, Bravas is a great spot for group dining. The portions are generous but that doesn’t mean you can’t try most of the items on the menu. My personal favorites are Chicken Croquetas and Steamed Clams.
Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar owned by the Stark family, Willi’s offers a small plates menu for sharing as well as elegant cocktails. Must haves are the oysters, tartar, ceviche… A perfect place for a hot summer day or romantic dinner for two.
SingleThread is the only 3 Michelin Star restaurant in the Bay Area! Offering an 11 course tasting menu with optional wine pairing. Book months in advance and make sure to take it easy the day of the visit.
Madrona Manor (has 1 Michelin Star) offers a fresh and seasonal menu paired perfectly with delicious wine. This eight acre estate features a romantic veranda, a relaxing and cozy fire in the winter, and a pool in the summer.
Where to Wine:
Banshee has a small but unique and artsy tasting room located in downtown Healdsburg. Book your tasting in advance or taking your chances by popping in for a glass. Banshee is always busy but so, so worth visiting! Yum!
Gracianna is a family owner/operated winery that is open April to November only. Gracianna’s philosophy is “gratitude”. You will not regret meeting the owners and hearing their special story about the winery.
Dry Creek Vineyard is an intimate and family run winery perfect for an afternoon getaway which will include wine, bocce, a beautiful picnic ground and more wine. Did you know that it was designed after a Loire Valley chateau?!
Where to Drink:
Roof Top is one of the newest additions for a drink with a view. Located on the Healdsburg square, Rooftop provides you with stunning views of the Sonoma hills while enjoying a cocktail or wine.
Bear Republic with over 20 beers on tap at their Healdsburg brewery, chug down a cold one (or two) alongside their approachable, delicious, and dietary-friendly bar food.
